Change?
In Australia we had an election last week (no linguistic puns, please), and to my way of thinking the wrong mob got in. They are the conservatives (called Liberals in Australia). By the end of this term they will have been in power for nearly 12 years.
There has been significant changes -- all the wrong way. A combination of an 18th century political philosophy coupled with rampant managerialism and corporatism has led to the demise of democracy and the birth of a corporate neo-feudalism based on the ever-popular human activity called Greed.
We still have elections so we can vote for politicians who are ever more at the mercy of international corporations.
In the USA we have a president who is bound hand and foot to this same -- and we see the nation bleeding its resources into the coffers of the rich and richer, while the poor and uneducated become cannon fodder for the war of the wealthy.
In Australia we see our own military supporting the same.
In Australia we see our community infrastructure dissolving.
Yes, there's change all right. Grow your forelocks, folks; you'll be needing them to tug very soon.
